Barrett: There is a Black Sabbath show from Paris back in 1970 that I would have given
body parts to have played on.
Tom: If this question means, who would I like to sit in with as a band I think I would like to
sit in with Aerosmith.
Gary: Red Sky Mary.
MM: If you couldn’t play music for a living, what’s your back-up job?
Tom: I honestly don't have an answer for this. I've wanted to play Rock ‘n’ Roll guitar ever
since I was 11. That's what the plan has always been, and that's what reality is now.
Sam: Honestly, I’d like to be Batman, but that seems very unlikely. I don’t know what I’d
do without music, without Tom, Gary and Barrett and without RSM. So, for the sake of
having no idea, I’ll just go with being Batman…
MM: Where did the name Red Sky Mary come from?
Tom: Sam made the name up…best to defer to his judgment on that one.
Sam: I usually say LSD, because it's a way better story than the actual story. I was just
sitting on my computer searching something that had nothing to do with “Red”, “Sky” or
“Mary”. It just came to me.
MM: Barrett, who’s your all-time favorite drummer?
Barrett: John Bonham.
MM: Do you have any advice for up and coming drummers?
Barrett: Throw yourself into your instrument 100%. If you really truly love what you're
doing, there's nothing better than playing and playing and playing. It's euphoric. Find
people who love what they're doing as much as you do and wring everything out of the
people you meet and the experiences you have that you can. Music is unlike anything
else on the planet and I personally think it's the single greatest profession anyone could
hope to enter into, but it's also a big responsibility. If you want to be a truly great
entertainer (because that's what you're signing up to be) you've got to give what you're
doing everything you've got, both technically and emotionally. Never stop trying to
improve and never stop enjoying what you do. AND keep an open mind--the world of
music is impossibly huge, so give everything you hear a chance to broaden your
horizons.
