white girl’ trying to do the Blues. I had to live a little first and get my heart and soul broken. I learned the Blues of
course from my father and I was also taught how to sing the Blues by a woman named JUNE EVANS, who my
father played with.
JB: How did you get into music? Anyone influence you in that decision?
Laura: I literally was born into music by my talented father, JAMES CHEADLE. He has been performing in the music
industry for over 30 years and can be heard on many recordings, including his own fusion band SAHARA--which
recorded for COLUMBIA RECORDS during the late 1970s. He was part of the Philly International hit-making scene
and was a Staff Writer with APRIL-BLACKWOOD MUSIC, writing songs with Producer JERRY ROSS for such
notables as JERRY BUTLER, HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES and THE O’JAYS. Jim spent some time
in South Florida where he was part of the fusion scene that launched the careers of JACO PASTORIUS and PETER
