ION INDIE MAGAZINE October 2016, Volume 29 | Page 63
In a world of corporate control and “Big Money” record labels, one might find it difficult to chase after
dreams these days. To this I say, “Phooey!” This is the DIY (Do It Yourself) era. There is nothing stopping you
from your aspirations--aside from perception and maybe a little sweat. The music industry is a dark and dirty
place, but no more than you allow to, shall it consume your soul. Think, listen, research…don’t be a fool in
a garden of knowledge.
I am Chaos; scriber of the incomprehensible, devourer of the obscure, guide to the misinformed, friend to
the Fairy Rock Mother, DJ at Eye on Jamz Radio, and the list goes on and on and on. I long for very little in
this world as I am dreaming awake.
From the inception of ION Indie Magazine in June of 2014, Chaos’s Corner has been a place where I was
afforded the opportunity to help artists gain exposure through the sharing of their lyrical work. My hopes
were to pay homage to the raw art that is poetry, while connecting lyricists to other musicians while offering
a secondary way to have their work displayed within the pages of ION. Since then I have had the distinct
pleasure of sharing tapestries of words from all over the world.
Being a part of the Fairy Rock-Mother Kiki Plesha’s vision has been incredible as it aligns so well with my
own. It is ION Indie Magazine’s mission to get independent music read about, seen, and heard. I have always
believed that the music industry should belong to the musicians. She fly’s about the musical universe
spouting truths and educational tidbits to the driven indie artists that pass her way.
My personal vision is to see independent artists working collectively and fluently as a network. To have open
and honest communication from one musician to another, so that we might be able to create a simpler
gateway to performing. Like-minded individuals striving to create shows and events that make sense (i.e.
venue is accommodating for size of show for fans and artists, all people involved are compensated properly,
etc.). Integrity is the key to a network like that being a viable reality. I may be crazy, but I believe enough of
us exist that would love see an end to the “pay to play” and “play for exposure” platform.
#BeTheRevolution
But enough about me, right? Nope, sorry…not today. Onward and upward moves the revolution! What is this
I am talking about? Have you ever just known something was meant to be? Like peanut butter and
chocolate, or…? Anyhoo…let’s recap:
