Fifty Years and Counting! Bank of NH Pavilion, Gilford NH September 13th, 2015 Show Review and Photography by Mark Myers Heathen Hill Studios Fifty years and counting! Let that sink in for a few… The Scorpions were founded back in 1965, back when JAMES KOTTAK (the band’s drummer since 1996) was 3 years old! The Scorpions bassist, PAWEL MACIWODA wasn’t even born yet! Lead singer KLAUS MEINE, and founding member RUDOLPH SCHENKER are pushing 70 years old and show no signs of slowing down. To some, this may be a “nostalgia act” or a band “that doesn’t know when to quit”. To the near capacity crowd at Bank of NH Pavilion in Gilford, NH, this was an amazing kick ass Rock show featuring a band that absolutely can still bring their A-game. The Scorpions rocked out with the obligatory hits like “Rock You Like A Hurricane”, but also reached way back to play some classics for the longtime fans; like “Steamrock Fever” and “Speedy’s Coming”. Stage presence, lights and production were amazing. Klaus Meine must be sponsored by a drum stick company--just about the entire front row got a stick thrown their way by the singer. Rudolph Schenker and MATTHIAS JABS still play very well together--as they should after all these years, and JAMES KOTTAK is a complete madman behind the drum kit. Absolute, energetic and 100% pure Rock & Roll at 50 years old--great show by the Scorpions!
