Interview by Leslie Hadaway
The music, the lights, the intimate crowd, all gathered at TREMONT MUSIC HALL in Charlotte, NC, with three
great local bands and one awesome night of music--delivered by DEEP SKY, A COURSE OF ACTION and
headliners, FIFTYWATT FREIGHT TRAIN.
The night was absolutely spectacular. The intimate crowd gathered around the stage for show opener, Deep
Sky. I arrived just in time to hear the band’s sound check, and they sounded incredible. Deep Sky, a three
piece Hard Rock band out of Stallings, NC, surprised me that night with their huge sound. With ROCKETMAN
MCNEELY on vocals and guitar, JIM GREY on bass and KEVIN LUKE on drums--they have a sound like no
other in the Carolinas.
A Course of Action is another great local band from NC. The energy these guys brought to the stage was
intense. The music was grooving, and I could definitely bang my head to their tunes. The showmanship and
talent these guys have is extraordinary, and they proved it on stage that night.
The band that we were all waiting with a prolonged anticipation, Fiftywatt Freight Train, finally took the stage
by storm! I have seen these guys perform before, but this was honestly one of their best performances I have
ever seen from them. Fiftywatt definitely delivered a tasty treat that night. Fiftywatt Freight Train, a Hard Rock
band from Charlotte, NC, has been around since 2012 and has been featured on such local shows as WBTV
NEWS CHANNEL 3 in Charlotte, NC, and radio station 106.5 THE END, also located in Charlotte, NC.
I recently got the chance to chat with DARBY ADKINS about the band, local venues, the songs on the EP and
plans for the future.
