ION: FOR SOMEBODY OUT THERE WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHO BEYOND
THE FADE IS, TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE BAND--LIKE WHERE
YOU'RE FROM, A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF YOUR MUSIC, HOW LONG
YOU'VE BEEN AROUND, ECT...
BTF: Beyond the Fade was formed in 2006 and we hail from the Charlotte, NC
metro area. While we have undergone some personnel changes over the past
few years and a few setbacks along the way, the core group remains the same-and we're now stronger and tighter than we've ever been. We're still in search
of a permanent bass player and drummer to round out and complete our lineup
while we continue to perform live for the rest of 2016 and into 2017 in support of
our new album. Our music is classed as rock/hard rock, with a well thought out
mix of lyrically driven songs, as well as "in your face" hard drivers with
Brandon's signature screaming guitar riffs.
ION: YOU'VE JUST RECENTLY RELEASED YOUR FIRST FULL LENGTH
CD, "WELCOME TO THE PAIN". TELL ME ABOUT THE WRITING
PROCESS…DO ONE OF YOU WRITE ALL THE LYRICS, ANOTHER WRITE
THE MUSIC AND RIFFS…OR IS IT A TOTAL BAND COLLABORATION?
Jason: In a way, it's a band effort. Neil writes all the lyrics and then I'll go over
them with him and we make changes together. But he does 99% of all the lyric
writing himself. When it comes to riffs, Brandon and I both bring in ideas and
just go with what we feel are the best ideas. Neil may bring in something and we
go with it too. No one person does all the music writing. I usually do most of the
arranging, but it's really a group thing. In the studio, I wrote 5 new songs with
our producer RICK BEATO and Neil and Brandon then came in and added their
twist to them. We had our friend GARRETT WHITLOCK from TREMONTI
come in and play drums for us. He really added to our sound.
