Rio: yeah. The ownership, I think it makes ‘em work harder. I’m happy to be in a band where everybody wants to put in their fair share. JP: As I watched the video for “Dangerous”, you guys had some pretty large crowds you were playing for that I saw from the live footage. What does it feel like playing for those crowds compared to a small club scene? Rio: It’s a rush. When you finally get to a point when you can get five to ten thousand people singing back lyrics that you’re singing and you’re holding that mic out to the crowd. As a fan you always wonder what it would be like to hold that mic out there and have the crowd sing--and when that happens, it’s as good it gets. Playing a small club is more intimidating. It’s easy to come out on stage in an arena and start talking and get the crowd pumped up, but when you’re in a club with two hundred faces and they are two feet away from you, that’s scary as hell. I’ll take an arena…not just because of its size, but because it’s less scary. JP: You’ve told me a little bit about what to expect from you guys in 2017. You’ll be dropping an album about the end of ’16 and hitting the road in February of March of next year. Rio: That’s what we’re looking at. We’ll try to get going in February/March and hopefully you’ll see us in some of these special lineups. That’s our goal. Then we’ll get to the summertime and run the Midwest a little bit. I’d hate to make promises about the album we don’t keep, but that’s our first outlook. You’ve known me for years and I’ve been in several bands since. There’s a couple tracks that we have right now--if you just take my piece out of it and I don’t look like I’m adding anything to it. But I listen to the track and I’m completely blown away by the stuff that’s already been created. JP: It’s definitely faster and harder than what I’ve heard from you in the past. Rio: Yeah. When they changed over the vocalist, it gave the opportunity to not so much change sound, but to become who they are supposed to be. You might be surprised what you hear next. It’s gonna be substantial, dude. It’s gonna be substantial.
