Review and Photography by Timothy Schumann In my 44 years of attending shows, I believe I've seen everyone and of course, I've got my favorites…and one of those favorites is SEVENDUST. Boy, did I get excited when I found out they were coming here to New Orleans on September 25th--better yet, HOUSE OF BLUES, French Quarter. Truth be told, I've seen them a total of 7 times, have met the band and have 5 photos with LAJON WITHERSPOON--not to mention, MORGAN ROSE is from the Tampa Bay area. Needless to say, we had a great conversation backstage in El Paso, Texas two years ago. I guess you could say I'm a “fan boy”. I got to the venue around 3pm, posted up at the bus and got my photos with LJ and Morgan…couldn't be happier at that point! It’s one of the reasons I love this band so much…they take the time to sign autographs and do photographs. Case in point, Lajon will hang out on the sidewalk by the bus until the last fan is gone…that's top drawer in my book! And of course, let’s not forget the 10 albums in 19 years they have given us. Sevendust hit the stage at 9:30 sharp to a packed house, not sold-out to my surprise. And rest assured, this is a Sevendust crowd! Some of my favorite tunes came down the pipe such as “Denial”, “Waffle”, “Praise” and “Angel’s Son”. Lajon is one of the best front men in the business--he just connects with every single person in the audience. I mean, like a one-on-one connection. It’s like he's performing just for you! I hope that makes sense. I have been following this band since ‘99 upon the release of “Home”, and have never taken my foot of the gas. Without a doubt, Sevendust is one of my favorite Alternative Metal bands…and I believe that everyone who attended the show here in the Quarter on the 25th shares that opinion.
