ION INDIE MAGAZINE November 2014, Volume 6 | Page 4
Music by KARLI REDD “Come and Get Me”
I am significantly stoked about this being our 6th issue…we are at the half-year mark since the launch of ION
INDIE MAGAZINE in June of this year. And who’d have thunk that it would take off the way it has? So much
has transpired since our inaugural issue and we have blazed new trails that have led to us becoming the
fastest-growing all-genre Independent music publication today!
For our November issue, our own MARK URICHECK has penned a fabulous feature on the California-based
Rock band GALVANIZED SOULS. I am confident that this young group will be embraced by the readers of
ION with their messages of positivity and inspiring talent.
There was a BIG noise coming out of the Scranton, PA, area and ION was there to cover all the hoopla!
October 10-12, THE ELECTRIC CITY MUSIC CONFERENCE struck the NEPA area and the result was
AWESOMENESS! Organizers JOE CAVISTON and KENNETH NORTON were the musical mechanics behind this
event, where over 100 bands participated, hosted by numerous area venues. Kicking off the festivities were
THE STEAMTOWN MUSIC AWARDS, of which ION’s KEN JONES was on hand as presenter for the “Metal Act
of the Year”--and the winner was BEHIND THE GREY! BTG was just reported on by Ken in last month’s issue
of ION via a video-taped interview he conducted with this outstanding band of Metallers. Congratulations to
all the participating musicians and a BIG thank you to Joe and Kenneth for having the vision and HEART to
bring all of these musicians together for such a unifying and inspiring event! YOU rock!
We have a new Photojournalist joining our team and making his debut this month…CHRIS WURTINGER with
CW SNAPS! I am confident our readers will enjoy Chris’s contributions to our publication and appreciate his
“eye” for live concert photography.
As always, I am most appreciative for the dedicated staff of ION INDIE MAGAZINE without whom, none of
this would be possible! I would also like to mention our promotional partners that help us get the word out
on the work we are doing to feature Independent music from around the world—we are grateful for you! And
also, thank you to the readers of this publication that support us…judging by our numbers, you like us…you
REALLY like us!
