The Post-Hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance hails from Sacramento, California. They have been together since’ 05, with 7 albums in 9 years. This show, as anticipated, was a sold-out event, and no doubt this crowd was here for Dance Gavin Dance— although this was not the night they were slated to headline. I felt bad for Chon— as their reception was not as enthusiastic … not even close.
The boys hit the stage around 9:30 p. m.--and if you weren ' t in the venue, you could tell when DGD ' s show started … due to all ear-piercing screaming emitting from the girls that lined the barricade. The ladies were laser-focused on TILIAN PEARSON and JON MESS— DGD’ s two lead singers. And Tilian and Jon performed as a well-orchestrated tag-team, as they worked this predominantly female crowd into a frenzy … fun to watch!
Now, I ' m particularly a fan of DGD, but after watching this show, I understand why they are so popular. They delivered an energetic, frenetic performance--which featured songs like " The Death of the Robot with Human Hair ", " Me and Zoloft Get Along Just Fine ", and of course, " We Own the Night ".
This is not the first time I have shot DGD, but a first for this publication, with the other time being in 2015 at the TEXAS SHOWDOWN FESTIVAL … which evoked the same raucous response from that crowd.
