Ok, here we go again … and what I mean by that is--this is another show that I almost missed. But just like in the recent past … when BOBBIE WELCH, one of the owners of this venue, TRICKY FALLS, mentioned that pre-sales for the JIMMY EAT WORLD show were going fast and furious, she also gave me the same“ heads up” in regards to the“ through the roof” pre-sales for this band, DANCE GAVIN DANCE. Bobbie speaks … I pay attention! And needless to say, I reached out to the band’ s“ powers that be” and was approved to shoot this show. And am I glad I did! So, with all that said, here in El Paso, Texas on 15 March 15 th, Dance Gavin Dance brought their 2017 " The Robot with Human Hair vs Chonzilla " tour into our fair city.
Now the thing with this tour is, we have two headliners--so they alternate who headlines every other night, CHON, being the other national act. The last time I saw something like this was years ago with DAVID LEE ROTH and SAMMY HAGAR, but I am sure Chon and DGD didn ' t mirror the problems that Sammy and Dave had, as David Lee Roth proved to be a handful and that tour turned out to be a nightmare. But this review is about Dance Gavin Dance, so let’ s get to it...
