When I read the email confirming my credentials to photograph HAVOK as they opened for MEGADETH at
the RAPIDS THEATER in Niagara Falls, NY, I never dreamt that they would literally live up to their name. I’d
photographed them before in a smaller venue and I recalled that they put on a great show--and this show
was no different! From the first note, Havok hammered the senses--a sonic onslaught that was every bit of
the mayhem I’d remembered. Moving about the stage, they were the headliners of the moment. Musically
excellent, they ramped up the sold out crowd. That was the good part. From a photographic point of view, I
think the lighting director hates photographers. Tons of backlighting, front fills of red, green and blue with
brief moments of flashing strobes. Almost the entire second song had no front lighting whatsoever. At times
like these, you shoot and hope for the best…

guitar/backing vocals), Nick Schendzielos (bass) and Pete Webber (drums).
