In a nutshell, I couldn't have been more thrilled to death to cover my first show here in New Orleans--which as fate would have it--was DISTURBED at the HOUSE OF BLUES in the French Quarter. To add to the excitement, needless to say, I am a huge fan of this national act. I have seen them several times in the past, but never had this opportunity as a photojournalist to partake in covering the show. House of Blues only holds 880 people and the place was packed to the rafters, as it should have been with a show of this caliber. Disturbed hails from Chicago and has been in existence for the past 20 years. In that period of time, they have put out 6 studio albums, of which 5 of those have consecutively debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The band went on hiatus in October 2011 and returned in June 2015, and released “Immortalized” in August-which is the tour they are currently on supporting this new fantastic release. The band hit the stage at 9:30 and never took their foot off the gas with songs like “Ten Thousand Fists”, “Land of Confusion”, “Stupify” and of course, “Down with the Sickness”. DAVID DRAIMAN commanded that stage as he always does, not the best front man I have ever seen, but he has a certain power that has the audience just eating out of his hand…it's quite the sight! As I made my way through the crowd after my 3 songs in the pit, I could not help but notice that everyone was focused on this epic performance by Disturbed, singing every word…and let’s not forget all the dancing in the aisles and stairways. This does nothing but warm my heart. It was an evening I will treasure—as it is my first since my relocation from El Paso to New Orleans. Take it from someone who has been attending shows since ‘72, this tour is a “must see” and is just outstanding on all levels Rest assure, that you too will leave the venue feeling you just witnessed something that you will never forget!
