LIVE MUSIC IS DEAD!!! SOUND THE ALARMS!!! LIVE MUSIC IS DEAD!!! How
many times have we heard someone say that live music can’t draw a crowd?
Perhaps in some areas, perhaps in some towns, perhaps in some clubs that is
true. However, on Saturday night, March 26th at HARMONIOUS MONKS in
Jacksonville Beach, Florida, there was a very different story told. This was my
first foray into the Jacksonville scene that was bragged up to me by my
longtime friend and networking partner, “The Godfather” of the Jacksonville
scene, BRUCE “TWISTER” LENZI.
While I can’t say exactly how many were in attendance for “Twisters Music
Birthday Bash” (Featuring BLEEDING IN STEREO), I can tell you it was near
capacity--with an estimated 250 people for a local’s only show. That doesn’t
include the guest list with at least four photographers present. Bruce is a local
band’s best friend. He religiously spins their music on his online radio station,
does interviews, promotes their shows--and much more. He asks for little in
return, but on the night of his birthday bash, he got plenty in return.
We had a busy day, as I made a visit to “Twisters World Headquarters” (as
Bruce calls it) for a photo shoot with a band that will be featured on the cover
