interchanged with whispering and guttural burst. The guitar solo is noteworthy in this song. Although the pace of the songs are pretty much the same, one cannot deny the accuracy of the musicians and how technically adept they truly are. There are two instrumental tracks on this album. The first is titled “Emergence” and it opens this album. It is announced with some gentle piano tones, but quickly begins to build the mood of excitement. Only 1 minute and 20 seconds in length, it is more of an interlude/introduction…ending abruptly. The second of the instrumentals is my pick out of the two--“Bliss In Darkness”. In this, more Symphonic influences are present. The pace is not as quick and the song “breathes” a bit more. I can really appreciate the many rich layers of the instruments. Worthy also of a listen is the track “Embers Reflection”, opening with the sounds of waves crashing and rich female vocals…it presents with almost military-like sounds…like a battle cry. The band does slow it down a bit here, but the growling and screaming utterances are fully unleashed in this song. There are some nice “change-ups”—almost as if the band allows the listener to catch their breath—but only for a moment. The track “The Reckoning” launches at you with the first note and does not let up. This song is pretty much in keeping with the rest of the songs…frenzied. There is a LOT going on here and it really needs to be appreciated through headphones. “Blind Avengers” boasts clear singing by the female vocalist, buoyed by powerful instruments. And “Story Of Power” features fabulous guitar riffs and more growling man in SAMAEL style. Summing up, DYSRIDER plays some fantastically passionate music. If you are seeking powerful, aggressive music, you need look no further. The band is consistent in their style and definitely delivers. The album is well-produced and features some impressive guitar gymnastics…very tight! For fans of this particular “dark” genre, this will fit into your collection nicely.
