Story and Photography by Timothy Schumann On the 15th of March, here in El Paso, Texas, THE STONE FOXES put on one of the best and entertaining shows I had seen in a while, and of course, it was held at TRICKY FALLS. I do want to take the opportunity to introduce an up and coming promoter here in El Paso who brought us GALVANIZED SOULS a couple of months ago and also The Stone Foxes--his name is VINCE ARRIETA of MAD SOUND MUSIC, and he is doing an outstanding job of bringing the best talent possible here to our area, and THE STONE FOXES were no exception. Based out of San Francisco, California, the band was formed in 2005, with their first self-titled release in 2008. Their brand of music is a blend of Country, Rock and Blues with a San Francisco spin to it. They have opened for national touring acts such as CAGE THE ELEPHANT and THE BLACK KEYS. As I shot the show, what caught me off guard was--they play a sort of musical chairs with their instruments. Before you know it, the lead singer has traded off with the drummer and now the drummer is your front man; bass guitar has been switched with the rhythm guitar and so forth. Needless to say, it was a fantastic show, fun to watch and full of energy! I believe the highlight of the show, for me anyway, was when they did a cover of SLIM HARPO’S "I’m a King Bee". This tour was supporting their upcoming new album "Twelve Spells", and after speaking to the band backstage, the tour was going very well. After this date, the guys were off to Austin to play SXSW. In closing, I spent quite a while with these guys. I even helped them with the "Load-In" and the "Load -Out" after the show. I must say, that they were all very kind and respectful towards me. It is and was my pleasure to cover their show and do this review. If by chance, you do get to take in a The Stone Foxes’ show, I know without a doubt, you'll feel the same as I do about these fine gentleman--top drawer all the way! www.thestonefoxes.com www.facebook.com/thestonefoxes www.twitter.com/thestonefoxes www.youtube.com/user/thestonefoxes
