But this show proved me wrong. It had such a raw excitement to it and everybody
was on the same level for one night. And for the record, we did not stop playing
when the ght broke out. But they didn’t want us to!
ION: Is there a particular show that will always stick out in your mind…and
why?
SEBASTIAN: Another show that sticks out to me is actually ROCK THE FORT,
where we performed with THEORY OF A DEADMAN on Fort Bliss. We’ve played a
LOT of shows for the USO and military, and do all we can for our men and women
in uniform--it’s very important to us. This show was particularly amazing, not only
because we got to play with THEORY OF A DEADMAN (Did I mention that
already?), but because the audience had the same raw energy that I mentioned
from Seattle, only on a much bigger setting and a huge stage. This was kind of
another case where we were the heaviest band on the bill, but everyone was into it.
After we got off stage, it took us over an hour to talk to everyone and sign a ton of
CDs and merch and take a ton of photos with everyone that stopped watching the
concert and took time to express their love and support for us. I don’t mean to brag,
and don’t mention this as a way of showing off, but this will always stick out in my
mind because I was so incredibly thankful and still am for this experience. If you
know BASH, you also know that we go extremely out of our way to interact with all
of our friends and fans, whether it’s online or in person. It’s just the most important
thing, and I think a lot of people don’t realize that. I love doing it, and I often spend a
lot of my personal free time with fans, hanging out, on the phone, skyping, over
social media, or personally delivering our merchandise. We made sure that every
single fan at ROCK THE FORT felt special and knew that we appreciated them,
because it’s so true.
ION: What is your favorite “fan” moment?
SEBASTIAN: One of our favorite fan moments was in Amarillo, TX, where we had
opened for DROWNING POOL on the “Ink Life Tour” to a massive crowd, and
afterwards we were hanging out at the hotel with all of the other artists going room
to room partying it up and celebrating. And at one moment, somebody who saw us
was there in one of the rooms--and he was freaking out saying “I can’t believe I’m
sitting next to you guys right now!”, and that was pretty awesome. Again, something
we’re very thankful for--it’s extremely humbling. I also have to mention that a few of
our biggest friends have BASH tattoos across their knuckles and on the back of
their necks, and that is also something that is incredibly surreal and that we’re
honored and thankful for.
