Music by ZALE “ Open Up Your Eyes ”
With her sequined catsuit capturing the light like a million shards of glass glistening in the brilliant sun , she slinked onto the stage — a kaleidoscope of scarlet lips and flirty feline eyes ; her face framed by a meandering raven medusa ’ s halo . And those hips … those HIPS !
She beckoned to her audience with the lure of a siren , and once captured , held them at rapt attention in the lair that is her stage — encased in a cocoon of warmth befitting a favored friend . Her gaze revealed the knowing eyes of a soothsayer and the vulnerability of a newborn kitten . She ’ s ZALE .
It was an unseasonably warm evening in Georgia . The place was EDDIE ’ S ATTIC in Decatur--an intimate little club that prides itself on being a “ listening ” room — translated : silence your phones and save the chatter for later … for it ’ s ALL about the artists in this establishment . Since my relocation to the Atlanta area , many local artists have caught my ear — but when I heard the voracious vocals of this diva-dynamo , Zale became a “ must see ”. She has the presence and punch of AMY WINEHOUSE ( cat eyes included , sans beehive ) and the poise and power of GRACE POTTER ( she delivered a memorable rendition of “ Paris ” in her set )— with the chops to back up those comparisons .
I had the opportunity to chat with this coquettish rock goddess and this is the conversation that followed :
