The very first show I ever shot was POP EVIL, when they were opening for STONESOUR. This was back in February of 2014. Truth be told, I never even took the first photo of Pop Evil, had no clue what I was doing--not to mention, I had no idea how to use the camera. I finally did get some shots of Stonesour, but shot them in“ auto” with the kit lens … well, Tim, how did that work out for ya? Yeah, not happening …
I shot them again in July of 2015 at the TEXAS SHOWDOWN FESTIVAL. It was during the day, and I got some great shots … plus, what a show! I believe that ' s where I became a fan of the band. They do love El Paso … that ' s a fact!
So, here they come again on January 29 th of this year at my favorite venue, TRICKY FALLS. I got to the venue early and got the chance to meet LEIGH KAKATY, DAVE GRAHS and MATT DIRITO out by the bus … and I gotta tell ya, super nice guys, the whole lot of them. Plus, also worth mentioning … l have dealt with one or two TM ' s( Tour Managers) in my tenure as a concert photographer, but JEFF was one of the kindest TM ' s ever! He could not have been more helpful … just a great guy.
Leigh and the boys hit the stage at 10:00 p. m., and just started to dismantle Tricky Falls with hits like“ Last Man Standing”,“ Trenches”,“ Footsteps”, and the knock-out punch,“ Deal with the Devil”. Tricky has a capacity of 1500. There might have been 700 in attendance, but those 700 got their money’ s worth and then some! It was a great show … check out“ Bands In Town” and look for the“ Rock and Roll Now Tour” and pray it makes it to your city. If you ' re a fan of straight up hard Rock and Roll, get the tickets and enjoy the ride. God knows, I did!
