Dagda: Where does the name 4x4 Barracuda come from?
4x4: Basically, it is a description of our music. Picture driving in reverse at 90 miles per hour in a swamp. That’s what we sound like.
Dagda: How long have you been playing together?
4x4: Jeremy and Johnny have been playing together since 2000. This lineup 4-5 years or so.
Dagda: When I listen to you I hear Clutch. Where does the sound come from?
4x4: We are all about the real sound. No gimmicks, no trends, no over processed sounds. Just the amps, and us. We want to be as raw
as possible, in your face playing basic instruments live.
Dagda: Is a tour in your future?
4x4: Of course, there has to be something in it for us though. We all have jobs and need something special to leave that. We know the
van experience all too well--that’s for the kids.
Dagda: Our readers want to hear about your experience in this “pay to play” market. What differentiates 4x4 Barracuda from the rest?
4x4: Our sound overall--we can play with any Death Metal bands, Rock bands, Heavy Metal bands or pretty much any genre. We can
play with Napalm Death and Tom Petty. We are refreshing to watch, we don’t sound like the next heavy, Death Metal band.
Dagda: What’s next? Do you have something in the works?
4x4: Second CD coming out soon. It’s called “7 Foot Hoopa”. Same sound, same attitude. We have an instrumental containing a bunch
of outtakes of Hoopa from Jaws. It’s a new turn for the band. We are expanding our sound and bringing in our Zeppelin and Sabbath
roots.
4x4 Barracuda is: Johnny White (drums), Adam Elliot (bass), Chuck Guepy (guitar) and Jeremy Jenkins (guitar, lead vocals)
