place…Texas, hometown boys,
post hardcore punk, Cedric and
company back in the saddle. Add
to that equation a ten thousand
seat venue, and you have all the
makings of one epic event!
They ambushed the stage at 9:00
p.m.—with
CEDRIC
BIXLER
launching as if he had been
released from a cage. He ran
straight out to the edge of the
stage, flew over the top of me
and into the crowd, and they
were only half way through the
first song! Cedric is one of the
best front men I've seen--you
just cannot take your eyes off of
him, never knowing what stunt
he's going to do next.
As part of the working media
here in El Paso, we are granted 3
songs in the pit, then escorted
out of the venue. But those three
songs being performed just a few
feet away, packed a punch. The
band served up “Incurably
Innocent”, “Invalid Litter Dept.”
and “One Armed Scissor”. As far
as I could see, the crowd
(including more than a couple of
shooters in the pit), was singing
every song, word for word. I
knew I was witnessing a
“moment”. Remember, these
guys are from here; their roots
are here. And half of the people
in attendance were personal
friends. The Coliseum holds 10K,
although not a sell-out show, but
at best guess, 6 to 7K people
were there to catch this “Home
Town Boys Make Good”
performance. But personal
acquaintance or not…on this
particular night, EVERYONE was
“family”.
