On April the 9th and the 10th here in El Paso, Texas, we had two killer shows at TRICKY FALLS, the first night was BAD RELIGION and the second was CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. At times, I have had a hard time trying to figure out what appeals to the music scene here in El Paso, but the fans packed the house for BAD RELIGION! This is a band that hails from L.A. that has been around since 1979. During that time (33 years) they have put out 16 albums (2 live), 3 EPs and 2 DVDs. They also have plans for a new release in 2016. The style of music is Indie/Pop Punk/Skate Punk. But truth be told, they are the bestselling Punk band of all time with 5 million albums sold worldwide. Songs like "American Jesus", "Infected" and "Los Angeles is Burning" had the fans in a "Circle Pit" the length of the show. I had no idea El Paso had so many Punk music fans, but they sure rose to the occasion that Thursday night. It was one hell of a show! Now on the following evening, “Metal Madness” invaded this border town with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, and I knew without a doubt that there would be a huge turnout for this show since El Paso loves its Metal! The two Brazilian brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, who were also the founding members of SEPULTURA and SOULFLY, came together after a ten year feud. It started after Max left SEPULTURA for serious personal reasons. That's when he started SOULFLY. But in 2006, the brothers put aside their differences and formed CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and have released 3 albums since 2007. This was a high energy show-head banging at its finest--with songs like "Terrorize", "Refuse/Resist" and "Torture". These song titles alone should give you an idea of what kind of show this was! All in all, these two nights of Punk and Metal were just outstanding shows with capacity crowds and it was my sheer pleasure to cover them both! www.badreligion.com • www.cavaleraconspiracy.com
