LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
For this anniversary edition of ION Indie Magazine, we are proud to present the group TRUE VIOLET to our readers. Journalist
JERE PERRY does the honors for this special edition of ION. We are delighted to have these “lovelies” grace this
commemorative issue. In other news, I am delighted to report that again, the ION family has grown--with the addition of Music
Industry Columnist PAUL BORDENKIRCHER of MESA SAND VENTURES. He will be sharing his extensive knowledge and provide
insight on maneuvering the industry. Welcome aboard, Paul!
June is the month that ION was born. And birthdays are a time of reflection; to count your blessings--and to have your “nearest
and dearest” surrounding you. It is no different where this milestone for ION Indie Magazine is concerned. As I usually reserve
this space for lively banter and timely chit chat, this month is not the case. Instead, I will express my gratitude to this
exceptional staff, the many artists that have participated this past year and YOU, our readers, for without all of those very
necessary elements, there would not be an ION Indie Magazine.
Inside this extended anniversary edition, you will find a bit more information about this dedicated staff—who tirelessly and
unselfishly give of their time to this project. And we will catch up with the artists that have graced our covers over this last year.
We will also get “up close and personal” with some artists that ION selected for this edition--some are familiar to you, some
you may learn about through this issue. But the sum of the whole is--we are all here for the same thing…to support
Independent artists and provide a platform for them to shine. This vision is shared by our broadcast affiliates, to whom we
forward the music that streams in our publication each month for consideration. Because of them, many of the artists that
have appeared in our pages are now in regular rotation with radio stations across the nation. And there are numerous
businesses, music-related and otherwise, that have extended a hand of friendship to ION Indie Magazine.
Year two for ION promises to be one of growth. We have come a LONG way since last May—when 13 like-minded people that
were passionate about supporting Independent music gathered with a concept in mind…and together, we said, “What if?”
We strive each and every month to produce a publication that continues to improve…and I think we’ve met that goal, judging
by our devoted readership. To honor this initiative, I have put together a video that provides a look back at “A Year of Music”.
It is a testament to the human spirit…and also, to the strength that is found in numbers.
