She finished the show as first runner up to LUKAS ROSSI. Clarke revealed that Rossi defeated Dilana because "He made
[their] music sound more like a band, whereas Dilana sounded like a singer--with Rock Star Supernova backing her”. So Rossi
(Oh, what a surprise!) was selected to front the ill-fated reality-based Rock band ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA. Pretty predictable-I never thought that a woman would ACTUALLY be selected for the testosterone-dominated “front” spot. I guess Rossi fit the
“Johnny Bravo” suit better (Brady Bunch reference, y’all). But it gives me pause to think--where is the subsequent reality TVbirthed band Rock Star Supernova now, HMMMMMM? In the aftermath of the lackluster sales of the album and all the
infighting and legal crap, it has crumbled—yet, Dilana has proven her staying power. And this lady-train shows no signs of
slowing down! Hell, even two of the Season 8 “American Idol” contestants openly cited Dilana as an influence in the
interpretation of their song choices. I don’t recall anyone mentioning Rossi as their inspiration. But I digress…
This siren of song is comfortable in her skin and “at home” surrounded by greatness. Some artists that have shared the stage
with Dilana—besides Clarke--are TOMMY LEE and MICK MARS (Motley Crüe) and the aforementioned Dave Navarro (JANE’S
ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS). She has opened for such heavy-hitters as PUDDLE OF MUDD and SALIVA—and an
obscure little band by the name of AEROSMITH.
Dilana delved into the dramatic with her debut in 2009 in the musical drama “Angel Camouflaged” (co-starring with JAMES
BROLIN and directed by MICHAEL GIVENS). Dilana composed and performed 9 original songs for the film and soundtrack.
She won the “Best Actress Award” at the “Action on Film International Film Festival”, and additionally won both the “Best
Actress Award” and “Best Music Award” at the “American International Film Festival”. She sings, she writes, she acts…can
you say “triple threat? I know you can.
While music remains the focal point, her heart holds many causes dear. Dilana is a champion in her commitment to lend her
time and voice to many--especially children. She has given her support to the LILI CLAIRE FOUNDATION, MILAGRO
FOUNDATION, THE ELIZABETH GLASER PEDIATRIC AIDS FOUNDATION and SAFE PASSAGE. She doesn’t just “talk the talk”
either--but actually makes appearances at the Safe Passage shelter in LA for battered women and children—where she brings
them food and gifts, cooks for them and serenades them with song. According to her devoted assistan B
