Rei: That's fantastic! So, from the new record, what have you found that has been resonating with people the most? What
songs are sticking out for you?
Mixi: Well, one we stopped playing because people kept crying--every time--it was called “Now That You're Gone” and it's
about losing someone and—
Decker: She feels bad when she makes people cry.
Mixi: Every single show we would play, somebody would come up to
me like [crying noise] and I'm like, “No, don't cry!” I get it--it's
good to cry. I just don't want people crying at the show.
Rei: It's cathartic. It's healing. It’s—
Mixi: —I meant for the song to kind of bring out the feels, but—
Gary: When you play a song like that that actually affects the
audience like that, then you know you're touching people.
Mixi: Yeah, maybe we'll bring it back one day, but I started crying
when people told me their story afterwards. And then I'm just
like…I feel emotions off of you. I feed off of people in the audience.
And so when someone's feeling down, I feel it. When somebody's
feeling really happy, I feel it. So I would end up being like, “Don't
tell me this, I just did my makeup.” It sticks with you.
Rei: But those can be the most poignant moments with fan. So
you're not playing that song live anymore?
Mixi: Maybe we'll bring it back. At this moment we have a 30 minute set, like, specifically just short and simple and sweet
for now, and then once the record's out, maybe we'll pull something back in.
Rei: All right, well we'll keep an eye out for that!
Decker: It's on the record though.
Mixi: It is.
Rei: Well, I will listen to it and I will cry privately and not come and tell you about it or I'll shoot you a message about it
instead—
Mixi: And tell me your sob story and we'll cry together! I think we're still a baby band. We're still growing, we're climbing.
We're toddlers at this point—
Rei: Baby band?!
Mixi: We're wearing our pull-ups, you know, we're doing it!
Rei: Pull-ups with little spikes on them.
Mixi: Toddler’s wear pull-ups, right?
