Story and Photography by Timothy Schumann On May 22nd, THE EAGLES rolled into THE DON HASKINS CENTER here in El Paso, Texas, to put on the "History of the Eagles Tour”. I had seen The Eagles in 1981 in Tampa…needless to say, the boys were a bit younger then, but truth be told, as a fine wine, it only gets better with age--and this was the case with this wonderful performance to a sellout crowd here in West Texas. The show started out with just DON HENLEY and GLENN FREY on stage under a white spot light, sitting on their amps. Then, after each song, it’s “story time”…and it was shared with the mesmerized audience how each member came to be one of The Eagles. Next on stage, was one of the founding members, BERNIE LEADON, then TIMOTHY B. SCHMIT, and finally, JOE WALSH-which by the audience's reaction, was the main attraction--and yes, I cannot lie, I was there to see Joe! Songs like "Saturday Night", "Peaceful Easy Feeling" and "Witchy Woman" had the audience on their feet, but back in their seats once the story telling commenced. The only complaint I had was all media had to shoot from the sound board for only reasons known by The Eagles management. Everyone I spoke to who attended saidwww.theeagles.com it was one of the best shows they had ever seen, and I totally agree. This is a band that has been selling out venues for the past 46 years--and I would expect nothing less from an act like The Eagles!
