The opening track, “Beth Anne”, has resonating drums that are complimented by the rich seductive tones of vocalist ABIGAIL ZIERING...gloom and doom served on a very palatable plate. The song is reminiscent of the band TYPE O NEGATIVE...delishiously moody! Equally dark, is the song “Persephone”—which flirts with the listener, beckoning with the beguile of Morticia Adams. I really love “Morning Star”—with it’s BLACK SABBATH boldness...and gritty riffs to match. Another highlight of this album is “Entanglement”—with its NIRVANA-esque echoes. In “Shady Side” you will be drawn to the dirty sounds of this musical shotgun wedding of blues and punk—presided over by psychodelic guitars. “Kitsune” presents as a more straight-up, in-yourmelting-face rock song—with all the necessary elements—with a detectable KING CRIMSON influence noticeable in the track. It truly takes the listener on a journey with the song’s building crescendo—that then deposits them unceremoniously...no warning and no apologies. Thank you, ma’am...I’ll have some MORE of that mystery meat, please. “Midian” is characterised by a change-up in the style of guitarwork in the opening...almost heralding a softer side of Luna Lacuna...but nope...it gets heavy—after luring you into the false premise of a balladic lullabye. “Glitter and Blood” is pouty and playful...in a possessed “send-me-to-hell” sort of way. It’s rawer— where the lyrics are deliberate...as if punctuated with spittle. I listened the whole album more than a few times...really delving into the sounds. The verdict? I highly recommend the songs of the unique and eclectic English band—that goes by the name Luna Lacuna. They possess great style and a scintillating sound that is undefinable—which in today’s cookie cutter music scene, is refreshing to find. http://www.lunalacuna.co.uk/music https://www.facebook.com/lunalacuna.band/ https://lunalacuna.bandcamp.com/album/midnight-mystery-meat-demos
