ION INDIE MAGAZINE January 2016, Volume 20 | Page 55
It's ironic that I sometimes write
articles for ION INDIE
MAGAZINE. Truth be told, I am
very biased towards Independent
music. I think technology is great,
but it has its downside. All the
cheap and wonderful gadgets
make it very easy to make quality

music and videos. So by default, to
put it bluntly, a lot of shit gets produced. Add social media into the
mix--and we are one big shit conductor. The flipside is, I also get
exposed to a lot of great music…music that I would've never heard of if
it wasn't for a Facebook friend who suggested I give SANHO “The
Indian” a look. I searched for him on YouTube--and was greeted by
quite a few high-quality videos.
Sanho The Indian (CHRIS SANCHEZ) is a Native American rapper
from the Bay Area of California, with a buttery-smooth flow and
delivery. His music has that vintage West Coast/summertime-music
feel; easy listening, with infectious hooks and groovy beats. Sanho has
a very commercial sound, without being trendy or phony. His topics
range from social consciousness to just good-time listening.
Writing for ION Indie Magazine has provided me the ability to give
Independent artists a chance--I guess, by taking writing assignments.
I give myself the opportunity to open my horizons to music not
directly connected by past encounters. I am also able to give truly new
music a listen…and if I find it to be of good quality, I am then able to
share it with the readers of this magazine. As an aside, growing up and
having been involved with bands in the 80's and 90's…we would've
KILLED for the promo available today. Ah, to be young now! Anyway,
this month’s new artist is Sanho The Indian.
