Perseverance, determination and a “You might hurt me but you'll never kill me” attitude--that's what I think of when I hear the name STITCHED UP HEART. I don’t know, maybe it means that sometimes, we let the wrong people in along the way and they tear gaping holes in our hearts and souls. Or, that we have to tear our OWN hearts apart to get the wrong people OUT. Either way, we pick up the leftover pieces, put that shit back together and move on. “Stitched Up Heart”--hell, it could mean that you’ll need your organs mended after hearing some brutally kick ass music...SHIT! Now I pretty much GOTTA ask… STITCHED UP HEART is a band on fire--forged in the furnaces of Hollywood, CA. After coming off of a year full of tours and major shows stoking their latest EP “Skeleton Key”, the band has been finishing up writing and polishing the new material for their upcoming EP. According to vocalist Mixi, recording should take place late January and February of this year when Mixi (vocals), Decker (drums), Merritt (bass) and the gang head out to Denver, CO. I recently had the privilege and honor of talking with Mixi, the band’s talented vocalist and front-woman, about the recent touring and future plans of STITCHED UP HEART. First off, the impression that I get from Mixi, is that she loves what she does, she loves her band and she is proud of the success that their hard work has earned them. I also get the sense that, through her obvious drive and passion for the band, that nobody in the SUH camp thinks that's it’s a matter of 'if' they get to the next level, but “WHEN” they get there. I believe them. Mixi tells me that “2015 is going to be full of surprises” and that she is “Very excited about all of the plans for the upcoming year”. One of the changes Mixi is looking forward to, is the prospect of professional management. With all of the years of hard work paying off and the numbers to back it up, SUH is in the position to take the time to find the management to fit their needs. Up to this point, a great deal of the hard work the band put in included Mixi and the guys booking and organizing their own successful tours and shows. “This year we did 83 shows and last year it was like 102.” She and the others are looking forward to adding to the team with management to delegate some of the workload to. With less time spent on logistics and booking, more time can be used for what bands live for...writing and playing. With a wisdom that comes from years of being out there on the road doing it themselves, they are not just taking anything that comes along. They have many options and are evaluating each one closely.
