The opener, “The Lost Mariner”, is probably the heaviest track on the album; with
its beautiful keys in sharp contrast to the guitars and drums that drive the Power
Metal atmosphere. I loved this track with the very first note! Nicoletta has a
wonderful, powerfully rich voice that compliments the music. I especially
appreciate the progressive influences and the impressive guitar work of this song.
The song which I love the most on this album is “Harbinger of Serenity” (feat.
ANDREA RACCO)…fantastic! This duet is absolutely gorgeous. I admire this track
for its epically moody climate—whose sounds permeate the brain long after the
last note. Title track “Lies' Device” features fast drums, mysterious keys, melodic
riffs and fabulous bass tones in a progressive style…also quite memorable.
“Dollhouse (Labyrinth of Thoughts)” lures the listener in with its gentle opening—
and then douses them with musical strength! I am reminded of NIGHTWISH in this
song’s style coupled with melodic vocals. Pure power!
The highlight of the album may arguably be “In Black and White” (feat.
ALESSANDRO LUCATTI)--with its driving rhythmic section and energetic riffs! I can
hear influences of STRATOVARIUS or KAMELOT. I admittedly got chills during the
guitar solo! These four minutes are ones well-spent and leave you wanting more.
