about what to call ourselves, drank a few too many gallons of ale, and drunkenly sauntered to the Oracle of Delphi’s place. She gave us the name, and in our stupor, thought it was great! Scotty J: I know the recent passing of Lemmy Kilmister has had a huge impact on the Metal Music scene. Did Motörhead have any particular influences on Lords of the Trident? Do you have any stories or experiences with Motörhead? FANG: I always loved watching Lemmy perform--his signature vocal mic placement said to me, “I don’t care if I’m not looking at you in the audience. I don’t need to. This wall of sound is going to blow you away anyway!” Before we reformed in 2008, I took some odd jobs disguised as a mere mortal. I remember being a roadie for one of the Motörhead tours in the 80s, I think. One night after a few too much Jack, we all broke into a local record store, stole all the FLEETWOOD MAC and PHIL COLLINS’ records, then brought them back to a gravel pit close to where the bus was stationed. We lit them on fire and drove bikes (also stolen) over the pile. I think Lemmy made an impromptu ramp out of some rocks and a plank of wood. Good times. I still have a few plastic burns on my arm. Scotty J: Are there any band(s) in particular that have had an influence on your music as a whole and then on you individually as musicians? FANG: That’s always a difficult question, since we pre-date many of the bands that most people say we sound like. I’ll say that I really enjoy what are now considered the “classics”—IRON MAIDEN, PRIEST, DIO…especially Dio. That man had just an incredible voice--it’s a shame we’ll never get to have a vocal duel. In addition, we listen to (and find our sound being influenced by) a lot of very talented modern Metal bands: SCAR SYMMETRY, OMNIUM GATHERUM, etc. In terms of personal influences, that would differ from member to member. I’m sure ASIAN METAL would reference ADRIAN SMITH of Maiden and AKIRA TAKASAKI of LOUDNESS. THE BARON enjoys VAI and SATRIANI, amongst others. We have a wide swath of influences! Scotty J: How’s the reception of your most recent album “Frostburn” been going? And what do you have in store for 2016? Do you forsee more touring or time in the stud io? FANG: “Frostburn” has been our best-received album to date, and I can clearly see why--it’s awesome! Ha! But seriously, we haven’t received any lower than 7/10 on any review of the album, and sales (and more importantly, streams) of this album have blown away previous records. We’re incredibly pleased that people like the songs as much as we do. As for the rest of 2016, we just released a covers EP on Christmas day, and finished up a music video for one of the songs--“Shine on Me”, a cover of CHRIS DANE OWENS’ internet classic. Since late December, we’ve been
