THE BROS. LANDRETH are JUNO Award-winning artists hailing from Winnipeg Canada. I recently had the pleasure of photographing two shows on their recent tour: December 5, 2015, at THE SANCTUARY-CENTRE FOR THE ARTS in Ridgeway, Ontario, and December 12, 2015, at MILLS HARDWARE in Hamilton, Ontario. The first show had a special guest—WALLY LANDRETH, filling in for bassist DAVE LANDRETH. Dave was back for the second show. The Bros. Landreth have won a JUNO AWARD for “Roots & Traditional Album of the Year” and a CANADIAN FOLK MUSIC AWARD for “New/Emerging Artist of the Year”. The Bros Landreth are: JOEY LANDRETH (vocals, guitar), DAVID LANDRETH (vocals, bass), ARIEL POSEN (vocals, guitar) and CODY IWASIUK (vocals, drums)…with special guest, Dad, WALLY LANDRETH (vocals, bass). I had a chance to sit down with JOEY LANDRETH before their show in Hamilton, Ontario, and ask him 5 questions: Lee Hoffman: Can you tell me how it came about that your dad was out on tour with you? Joey Landreth: Yeah, my brother called--I was driving from Toronto to Quebec City. From time to time, the van lives at my place in Toronto or at Dave’s place in Winnipeg, So this particular trip it was at my place--so I was charged with driving the beast over--and he called me about halfway through the trip and filled me in on the situation that he was in with his fiancé Roberta. She had been diagnosed with Degenerate Disc Disease and it had flared up worse than ever. She was unable to do the most daily of tasks; putting on socks, tying shoes, etc. We decided that he needed to stay home with her until she was back on her feet more than we needed him on the road. So we talked about different options about who we could bring out with us. Part of what we do…the whole point of this band…was for my brother and I to spend time together, long before we had any dreams about where this would take us. It was just an excuse to spend time together. He was on the road with a couple of other acts and I was on the road with a couple of other acts. We were never in Winnipeg together,
