Music by GOLDEN CRACK “They Will Not Belong” Story and Photography by Timothy Schumann Now here comes a band that I have shot twice now here in El Paso, Texas, that caught my attention from the start. First of all, it’s a three-piece and secondly, the drummer is the singer, so with that said, let me introduce you to GOLDEN CRACK. This band hails from Mexico City, Mexico, but the members have moved from there to Chihuahua and Juarez, Mexico. The band consists of CESARE CASANOVA on drums, ERIC COUGHANOUR, guitar and J.P. CONTRERAS, bass guitar. What I find special about these guys is that Cesare, as I said, sings, but he does it standing up and sitting at his kit. In other words, it seems he's multi-tasking as the drummer. I've never seen anything quite like his performance. They brand their music as "Electro/Industrial Rock” and their influences are bands such as NINE INCH NAILS, RADIO HEAD, MISFITS and BLACK SABBATH. They are currently recording their first CD in Juarez at ROCK STAR STUDIOS and it should be released this coming March, with a West Coast Tour planned to support their first release. The title of the new album is going to be “Ghost Nation”. They also have done two videos entitled “Over and Over” and “They Will Not Belong”. They've been together for the past three years, with the exception of J.P. Contreras--who has been with the band for the past six months and truth be told, has been the bass player they've been looking for. So needless to say, he fits like a glove. As I said, I liked these guys from the first time I saw them--very fun to watch--great tunes and very much on point! So, if you ever make it down here to the border, either here in El Paso and/or Juarez, Mexico…crack open a couple of Coronas with salt and limes, check out Golden Crack, and good times will be had by all! https://soundcloud.com/goldencrack www.facebook.com/GOLDENCRACK
