Over the years, the underground music scene in Los Angeles has produced some of the best and well known hard rock and
metal bands in the world. Rising up from the LA scene and quickly making a name for themselves is the band HAIL SAGAN.
Formed by vocalist SAGAN AMERY and the guitarist NICK QUIJANO (POWERMAN 5000), and newly signed to ELLEFSON MUSIC
PRODUCTIONS, the band wasted no time writing, recording and releasing its debut EP on October 14th.
With a modest 4 original songs and a pretty kickin' cover of FAITH NO MORE’S "Epic", this 5 song EP is merely a "tease" for
what's to come from Hail Sagan. After picking up the digital download from their PLEDGE MUSIC site, I instantly fell in love
with it. I'm a fan of music with hard-driving guitars that I can crank up in the car and rattle some windows--and this EP does
it. While the melodic music and Nick's masterful guitar work comes straight at you and smacks you in the face, the true shining
spot in these songs is Sagan's vocals. With a voice and range that goes from soft and sweet to hard and powerful--with some
well-placed intermittent screams--there isn't much she can't do.
While the music and lyrics have a "slightly darker" edge, the band is already achieving some success from their first release
off the EP, titled "Dark Cloud". The song's lyrics address bullying and abuse and the band also has a feature video for the
song as well. My favorite song on the EP? While I love them all, it's a toss-up between "The Mirror" and "Just a Secret"-BOTH are great songs. In a recent conversation I had with Sagan, she told me they are actually almost finished with the next
EP and a lot of new music is on the way. They're also gearing up to do some touring in 2017 to be seen and heard while they
build their fan base. I expect to see (and hear) some big things in the future from this band as they continue to grow.
