Kiki: Good advice. Be in the moment right? Scotty McCreery: Yeah, exactly.
Kiki: Well, I ' m going to turn it back over to Mark. He ' s got one final question to ask you and I ' m going to take this moment to thank you for taking some time with me this morning--and Mark is going to wrap it up today--and we ' re going to let you get along with your busy day today … so go ahead, Mark.
Scotty McCreery: Thank you, thank you.
Mark Myers: Scotty, as a lifelong New England native, I ' ve got to say, I ' m a huge fan now especially that you ' re a Red Sox and Patriots’ fan … so that ' s awesome. You ' re good, you ' re good in my book now.
Scotty McCreery: I love that.
Mark Myers:( Laughs) My question to you: our magazine is geared more towards the independent unsigned artists— who are the people who haven ' t--quote on quote—“ made it” yet. Can you give them any advice? What advice can you give our readers that are trying to make it in the music business? They always look forward to words of wisdom from somebody that ' s done what you ' ve done and reached the level you ' ve reached so far--especially at such a young age too.
Scotty McCreery: Yeah, well thank you. Uh, you know what we always try to tell folks in that kind of situation is to me, I think everybody has something that makes them unique. Uh, you know nobody is the same; nobody sounds the same. I mean, you might have similarities, but there is always something that makes you unique. So as, as an artist--as an independent or somebody that is trying to make it--my biggest piece of advice would be find what makes you and your music unique and really try to show that off … when you ' re singing, when you ' re playing, when you ' re doing showcases--whatever. Really just try to show off what makes you unique and work on that craft and, you know, really get your music out there anywhere and everywhere--whether it ' s TV like me or YouTube or Facebook, Twitter. Just get your music out there, because you never know who is listening. Could be Joe Schmo and it could be the head of a record label in Nashville or Los Angeles, so...
Mark Myers: Excellent. Scotty McCreery: Uh, yeah, that ' s kind of what I ' d tell them.
Mark Myers: Excellent, excellent advice. One final thing Scotty. I ' m looking forward to photographing your show and just attending it up here in New Hampshire on November 4 th, so it will be good to say“ hi” and put some great photos with this interview. So thank you for your time!
Scotty McCreery: Love that. Yes sir. Hey, looking forward to it. It will be good to get back up there. Kiki: Thank you so much, Scotty. You enjoy your day today. Scotty McCreery: I appreciate it. Y ' all as well. Thanks for having me on. See you on Thursday!
