FANESHA FABRE DELICATE PIECE OF MACHINERY BY JAY PETSKO Fanesha Fabre's latest offering, “Machina”, is a concept album, containing songs depicting the complexities of relationships. Her music reminds of Sade, Zero 7, Trip Hop, My Bloody Valentine…and all that other great music that sounds good after midnight. It starts off with “Delicate Piece of Machinery”--a robotic, yet melodic composition that is as catchy as it is unsettling. From there it ows into “Watch Me Burn”--if you have ever just "gone through the motions", you will relate to this song. I enjoyed this album and listened to it all the way through. The songs are sexy, romantic, bitter and revealing. The album as a whole maintains a consistent vibe; yet each song is strong on its own. Everything from the composition to the engineering (Sneeky Creeky) is top notch. If you are a fan of powerful well-composed music with a Trip Hop vibe, this album should be on your iPhone, computer--or dare I say--home stereo system. Yeah, I still listen to music out of large speakers in a wooden box. If there is one message that this album conveys to this listener, it is that relationships are an evolving animal. For some of us, the evolution can be at times drastic, and other times, buttery smooth.
