Music by Ashley Wineland“ She’ s Gone”
The April issue of ION Indie Magazine shines a light on an alumni of our publication, RYCHE CHLANDA! ION Art Director / Journalist JAY PETSKO features this iconic multidimensional performer inside this issue an intriguing interview.
Our ION Indie Magazine family has grown! We are amping it up in 2017 with some new additions to the staff that are synonymous with this editor’ s vision for our future growth. We are thrilled to announce that our radio show, EYE ON JAMZ, has a new host! SHELDON SNOW will be holding court every Tuesday from 4-6 p. m. EST on our broadcast partner, the NEUE REGEL RADIO network! Sheldon comes to ION with a long history in broadcast media and will be conducting live on air interviews and spinning music from our pages--and bring some of his personal selections to the mix. Sheldon debuts in his new role on April 4 th. Our former host, DJ ION CHAOS( SHAWN JOSEPH) remains a staple on this staff with his column“ CHAOS’ S CORNER”, but is stepping down from hosting duties to focus on his family. We thank Shawn for his contributions to“ Eye On Jamz”!
We are also welcoming Photojournalist GRAHAM WHITTINGTON— our“ across the pond” correspondent. Graham will be covering live concerts in the U. K. for this publication and makes his debut in our April issue with his enthralling coverage of the kilt-wearing KING KING. Check it out in these pages! I had the pleasure of meeting Graham and became familiar with his exemplary work when I attended the INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE in Memphis to support Belfast’ s own( and ION cover alumni) KAZ HAWKINS. Graham served as Ms. Hawkins’ personal photographer and chronicled her time there competing in the prestigious event. While in Memphis, I happened to stumble upon a spirited group hailing from the Holy City of Jerusalem, SOBO BLUES BAND— who made it all the way to the finals of the IBC! Graham and I collaborated on a spotlight feature on Sobo Blues Band, in this edition of ION.
This month we are continuing to support the upcoming AYERWAVES UNDERGROUND MUSIC FESTIVAL--organized by JOSH AYERS, owner of AYERWAVES RADIO— another esteemed broadcast partner of ION Indie Magazine. Besides sponsoring this indie centric festival, I am featuring a band every month leading up to the June event. Our next offering in this series spotlights the Kentucky-based funky rock band HOME GROWN HEAD. Learn all about them inside!
“ Music isn’ t what I do, it’ s who I am. Music is a life force that beats within. It permeates the senses and encompasses the spirit. Music transcends. It heals the heart, purges the soul and provides refuge from pain. Music is immortal.” ~ The Fairy Rock Mother
