JP: LET’ S TOUCH UPON DISCONNECTED A BIT. IS THERE SUCH A THING AS BEING TOO CONNECTED?
Literally, we have become so polarized because we are too connected to one source, one opinion, one voice, or one point of view. We need to share our experiences, share our history, share our common goals- for the betterment of all. Music as a driving force for betterment is a cause we stand behind with real commitment. Music as the universal language has had such a real impact in breaking down barriers between us around the world over the last 75 years. Music is a literally export of great value. Both the UK and Sweden have relied on music as some of their major exports in the last 50 years. We are not suggesting that it become a mere commodity – but we all benet from the music and the arts. Music is how we can learn from another- it is how we can become MORE connected.
JP: SHARE WITH US SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES.
Flying Dreams has many inuences and we think we mix several of them into what may makes the band a bit different. We are all products of what we have internalized consciously or unconsciously. Put four musicians on stage and it becomes chemistry and alchemy. All of the great UK prog greats, King Crimson, Genesis, Yes among many others have inuenced us. But there a few hidden and not so hidden inuences; Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Frank Zappa, The Allman Brothers, Santana, even funk, pop and folk inuences- since the band has an improv / jam side to its performances – you can see that no standard rules apply. Between Ryche, Kendall Scott( keyboards) and Ron Bienstock( basses)- there are so many inuences. That does not even start on the drumming inuences.
