STRANGELET is a “Hard & Heavy” Rock band with Glam Metal influences from Heilbronn in Germany. The band was formed in
2011 and on December 12, 2014, they released their debut album titled “First Bite”. Their sound and style is influenced by
Rock acts from the glorious 80's, including powerful riffing, melodic vintage keyboards and catchy refrains. With four men
and one powerful lady on drums, they connect modern elements, techniques and influences that produce songs that range
from heavy-hitting to epic ballads.
My favorite track on this album is “Tainted”. This is a mega-catchy hit with impressive sounds emitting from the keys and the
fantastic refrain, punctuated with the lyrics: ”We are, we are--wild and free!”. This song is a “pure energy anthem”. The
opening track “Privilege of Power” has great riffs and a clear rhythmic section. This is a hard-rockin’, hard-driving
track…adrenaline plus! The track ”Snakebite” really personifies the full spirit of the 80’s Hard Rock sound. It features fabulous
bass work and an impressive guitar solo. I also appreciate “Pray to Break”--which opens with some fine drumming. It
resonates with echoes of DEEP PURPLE with a dash of Glam Metal for good measure. “Nothing” presents in the style of CRAZY
LIXX and STEEL PANTHER…love the vocals!
I particularly like the ballad “Stillborn”, with its emotional vocals that are worthy of any stadium! Vocalist Stefan Zörner really
delivers in “All That's Left”—coupled with female vocals that add a wonderful layer to the song. “Touch the Sky” is another
interesting track that opens with acoustic guitars, and then kicks into high gear. Stefan has a great ROCK voice…period!
Worthy also of a listen are: “Hell & Back”, slamming more Rock in your face! “Hiding Star” really features the rich keys.
“Catching Fire” changes up the pace a bit…and presents with almost a Southern Rock flavor.
The music of STRANGELET is infectious. And every song is relevant on this CD. Warning...prepare to be ROCKED! The
musicianship is evident and the production value is very good. They have flat-out ”killed it” with this debut CD! If you are a
lover of Hard Rock and also have an affection for Glam Metal...this is a CD that you will want to add to your collection.
