TCAS: The band formed in early late 2007, but didn’t play its first show until May 15th, 2008. We formed after the
dissolve of a few other bands we all had been in and we decided on doing a Reggae-styled band. My brother Todd and
I always wanted to start one and this was the perfect opportunity. We’ve evolved as a band musically throughout the
years. We play Reggae music but add other elements to the mix to create our sound.
LSB: I know there is a family tie in
the band. Do such ties make
working/playing together easier
or more difficult?
TCAS: The rhythm section has
always been both Todd and Seth.
At one point, our oldest brother
Matt was our guitar player [but
left] after musical differences
with our original guitar player,
ERIK SANTANA. It makes it easy
because we’ve always had a
good relationship as brothers. If
it were difficult, I doubt we would
still be doing it after all this time.
LSB: Tell me about the making of
“Trials and Tribulations”, which
appears to be your last recording.
When and where was it
recorded? Are there plans for
more recordings?
TCAS: It was recorded in 2012 at
FIVE
TAILS
STUDIO
in
Album Art by Todd Juknevic
Wassergass, PA, by TODD SCHEID
and mastered at SHARDS RECORDING HOUSE by MATTHEW MOLCHANY. We have new songs in the works and look to
write another album. We have tentative plans to go into the studio to do a sort "dub sessions" with Matt Molchany.
LSB: I was present at the show where you opened for the WAILERS and it was an incredible appearance. Tell me about
that experience.
TCAS: It’s always humbling playing with a band that provided a lot of musical influence. They area great band and to
share the stage with an act like theirs was awesome. Nothing beats playing your music for an appreciative crowd and a
crowd that’s there for Reggae music.
LSB: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process? Is there a ‘writer’
of the group or is a total collaborative effort?
TCAS: Our last album “Trials and Tribulations” was exactly that. A few of us were going through some hard times and
we channeled those recent experiences to help fuel that record. All members of the band contribute to the process.
Todd is our lyrical master. He is the sole provider of the lyrics behind all the songs. In most cases someone will bring an
idea or demo to practice and we work out the rest then. It’s a relaxed process all around. Everyone gets a chance to
provide input.
LSB: How do you share your music? Do you use, Spotify or SoundCloud or Bandcamp to share your music?
TCAS: Bandcamp is our primary source. You can find all three of our albums on there for pretty cheap.
