And the reason the entire industry is fucked today is because a White House intern in the mid-90s was busy pleasuring Bill Clinton, who then forgot to look at the Telecom bill before he sigNed it. After that, radio became a real estate gold rush land grab. What? We’re no longer limited to twelve AMs and 12 FMs?
What the Wall Streeters and investors didn’t factor in during their rush to gobble up everything, was that at some point, once the dust settled, they were left with properties they had to OPERATE. See, cuz radio is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. And you have to have your head in it for years. That did not make them happy, and once the go go years of acquisition ended, it was discovered that a humongous amount of money went out the door. And here we are today. Every single decision about your station is made because of money and nothing else. Get the ratings,
get the money. No ratings? Oh well, we’ll flip to something else.
Credibility. We got none, and we gotta get it back before it’s too late.
Don’t forget to send me whiny emails about all your problems.
