Sakshi Malik

Wrestling was never considered as “the sport” for women, leading to societal humiliation.To break the sterotype, Sakshi Malik, from Haryana, won the bronze medal at Rio Olympics in the year 2016. She became the first Indian woman wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics.

Every Indian was counting on her for the last medal for India in Rio Olympics. She played her best and won silver for the country. She proved an Indian’s graciousness in defeat, as she went across the net to raise tearful Marin (her opponent) to her feet, embraced her, and then quietly placed her rival’s flung racket in the courtside box during the final match of Rio 2016. Her gesture touched the pinnacle of sportsmanship.

Dipa Karmakar

Female gymnast ever to compete in the Olympics, is the “first Indian gymnast” to do so in 52 years. She attained 4th position in Women's Vault Gymnastics event at Rio Olympics 2016 with an overall score of 15.066.

Everyone’s heart stood still when Dipa was performing her risky ‘Produnova’ vault competing for the medal at Olympics. Though she lost the medal but won millions applause for her performance, and is known worldwide. Karmakar is one of the five women who had successfully landed the Produnova, which is considered as the most difficult vault currently performed in women's gymnastics.
