According to the official statistics,
1.26 million tourists arrived to the
Republic of Armenia in 2016, which is
5.7% more than it was in 2015.

At the same time, domestic tourism is
also growing in Armenia. According to
National Statistical Service of Armenia,
the number of domestic tourists
(Residents of RA) increased by 20.1% in
2017 (January-May) compared to the
same period of the previous year. In total,
90,634 people travelled domestically
from January to May of 2017. People
travel
domestically
for
different
purposes. As the above graphics shows, in
Armenia the number of entertainment,
cultural, and leisure services are
increasing because the main purpose for
domestic tourism is leisure and
entertainment.
Furthermore, over the past five years,
the number of tourists arriving in Armenia
has increased by an average of 11% per
year, and about 14% of tourists prefer
using hotel facilities.
