Market Analysis
The main target group of the
destination and provided services are
tourists.
The development of tourism sector
plays an important role for economic
growth of Armenia, raising living
standards,
creating
new
job
opportunities, promoting small and
medium-sized
businesses,
newly
representing and capitalizing the natural
and cultural heritage of the country.
Tourism is announced to be one of the
key sectors of the RA economy,
regulated by the law of the Republic of
Armenia “About tourism and Tourist
Activities” as well as by the Tourism
Development Plan. Hence, the programs
within this sector enjoy the state support
and a number of incentives.
Particular attention is paid to the
implementation of the "open air" policy,
with the involvement of low-budget air
carriers, development of railway
passenger transportation markets,
creation and modernization of tourism
infrastructures, as well as the promotion
of international hotel providers.
For the last several years, the
majority of tourists arriving in Armenia
come from three main countries: Russia
(21.7%), Iran (17%) and the USA (9.6%).
