DISCRIMINATION IN PERU
Poor people and peasants in Peru is passing a hard time with their society because they want them to be sterilized because poverty in Peru is increasing every year less more than a 8% and the 95% of those 8% are poor people. Poverty is one of the biggest problems Peru´s government; those persons are getting less education and they are only speaking one language that only Peru´s ethnics groups speak.
Peru is now a developing country that is getting the rich people richer and the poor people poorer but that is getting in trouble Peru´s economy.
Right now, the human rights of the women in Peru are being violated with no real reason. They are being sterilized only because they can't afford a good life for their kids. This is not the correct way to solve problems. There are many other ways to solve this problem, and sterilizing is probably the worst way it can be done. This can ruin the life of a lot of women who want to have a family, and is ruining one of the best stages of life.
There are many other ways to stop poverty other than sterilizing women. The government can help them by educating them, teaching them how to have safe sexual relations and telling them how much money they would need to have a child with a decent life.
"They threatened us and said those who refuse to go wouldn't get
medical care in the future," said one of the many affected woman that is being affected by the time. Also she wanted to add: " "Women were crying and shouting because of the pain. We were cut quickly. They treated us like animals,". People is suffering due to economical status, they are not guilty of their type of life.
Mexico, Brazil, and Peru reportedly practice this form of FGM/C. In
Peru, among a division of Pano Indians, an elderly woman uses a bamboo knife to cut around the hymen from the vaginal entrance and
severs the hymen from the labia, at the same time exposing
the clitoris. Medicinal herbs are applied, followed by the insertion
of a phallic clay object into the vagina.
