I wish the world
could see what I see.
I see you gathering on the roof of the hospital
parking garage in your vehicle, praying for our
healthcare workers.
I see you pulling up to your favorite local
eatery, picking up the lunch or dinner special
of the day and taking it home to enjoy.
I see you running a virtual 5K to support
God’s Food Pantry, which so desperately
needs our help to feed those in need.
I see you painting your light bulbs green
to illuminate your house in the color of
compassion, honoring the lives we’ve lost.
I see my Somerset — your Somerset, our
Somerset — rising to the challenge.
The COVID-19 pandemic is a test of the
strength of America, a test in our resolve. But
I have no doubt we’ll pass this test with flying
colors. I’m so grateful for the response I’m
seeing from our community as we face each
new day of uncertainty. With your acts of
kindness, you’ve given new meaning to every
call to #seemyset.

When I tell our community’s story, I often
explain that the four colorful propeller wings
in our logo represent the influence Somerset
absorbs from all four corners of Kentucky.
We brighten the Bluegrass with an influence
of our own. We’re a melting pot of hues,
the center point on the compass. A place on
the Southern Shorelines of Kentucky where
business and industry, agriculture and art,
and outdoor adventure thrive.
But today when I look at that logo, I see
something maybe more significant. We are
above all else a place where compassion,
endurance, service and love come together.
And we’ll arise from this stronger than ever.
Somerset is special. We are truly the spirit of
Southern Kentucky. Please continue to stay
safe, stay smart and stay positive as we see
this challenge through.
I see you, Somerset.
Keep moving forward.
