Jay York of the Lake Cumberland Regional
Hospital Environmental Services Team
The Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Environmental
Services Team members have stepped up their efforts to
keep everyone safe during the coronavirus pandemic

Melissa Woodcock, with her
mother Martha Pierce, sat bedside
to Melissa’s grandmother - Lucille
Moody - in a Lake Cumberland
Regional Hospital hospice room. It
was a trying time, with long hours
for the two daughters, as they
spent their final moments with their
beloved mother.
And during some of their most
difficult times, their day was always
brightened just a little by a familiar

staff member.
“Each day, Jay York cleaned the
hospice floor and he was so kind,”
Melissa Woodcock stated. “He
came in with a smile every day and
always said a big ‘hello’. You could
feel his positive energy as he joked
around with the hospice nurses.
They had smiles on their faces as
soon as he got off the elevator. It
was obvious that he brightened
everyone’s day.”
Jay York, who is one of the
55-member Lake Cumberland
Regional Hospital (LCRH)
Environmental Services Team, has
always felt it was important to try to
comfort all the patients and family
members with whom he came into
contact while doing his routine - and
critical - cleaning duties.
“I just look at how I would feel if
it were a member my family,” York
stated. “I have always tried to do
that anyway because I like to see
everyone smiling. I guess I consider
that part of my job and I love it.”
