Springate is no stranger to his
new boss. He and Parker crossed
professional paths previously while
working as administrators at other
Kentucky hospitals affiliated with
the LifePoint Health network.
“We are eager for him to join our
leadership team and look forward
to the many contributions he will
make in his new role,” Parker said.
“He will help us continue advancing
our mission of making communities
healthier.”
As COO among the hospital’s
1,400 employees, Springate will be
second in command of LCRH’s day-
to-day operations. Since he is an
R.N., both clinical and non-clinical
departments within the hospital
report to him.
Springate acknowledges many
Kentuckians face the dilemma of ris-
ing healthcare costs like deductibles
while living on a limited or bud-
geted income. Along with that, our
state has one of the most elevated
rates of cancer found in the nation.
“We have a very high rate of lung
cancer in Kentucky,” Springate says.
“It is something LCRH deals with on
a consistent basis.”
Additionally, he relays our area
faces the healthcare challenges as-
sociated with obesity. It can lead to
serious health conditions like heart
disease, diabetes, high cholesterol,
and chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD).
“A lot of it is due to what we like
to eat,” Springate says. “I am from
Kentucky, and it is hard for me to al-
ways turn down some food choices
about what to put in my body.”
Springate is not the only health-
care professional in his family. His
wife, Melissa, is a cardiovascular
and radiology technologist.
