added a new face to its
administration recently.
Brian Springate, R.N., be-
came the chief operating
officer (COO) of Lake Cumberland
Regional Hospital (LCRH) when the
new year rolled around.
“I am excited to join the talented
team at LCRH and becoming a part
of providing care to Somerset and
the surrounding counties,” Sprin-
gate says. “I have been truly im-

pressed with the level of caring that
I have seen.”
“On my first day, I witnessed staff
out of kindness pitch in and help
out a family in need,” he continues.
“It was truly heartwarming and well
outside the norm of what you regu-
larly see in the daily functioning of a
hospital.”
Springate is a seasoned veteran of
20 years in the healthcare industry.
His professional career includes
being both a nurse and administra-
tor at several hospitals throughout
the Commonwealth, making him
well-grounded and in touch about
Kentuckian healthcare needs.
Originally from Lexington, Springate
came to Somerset from Fleming County
Hospital in Flemingsburg, Ky. He was
the chief executive officer (CEO) there
since 2016. He helped it attain critical
access designation, grow and expand
services, and recruit key physicians.
“Brian is a proven leader who is pas-
sionate about the delivery of high-qual-
ity care and keeping healthcare close to
home,” said LCRH CEO Robert Parker
in an earlier press release statement.
“He has a strong track record of driving
growth, ensuring operational success,
and building a robust culture of safety
and engagement.”
