cannot, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Symptoms of cardiac arrest
include:
Sudden loss of responsiveness.
If the person does not respond
when tapped on the shoulder,
they are likely experiencing
cardiac arrest.
No normal breathing. The
victim does not take a normal
breath when you tilt the head
up and check for at least five
seconds.
“In the event of a heart-related
emergency, know the signs and
symptoms and call 9-1-1,” Dr.
McKinney said. “Acting quickly
may safe a life, including your
own.”
Throughout the COVID-19
pandemic, LCRH has continued
to carefully follow guidance from
federal, state and local officials,
and evaluate supplies and
resources – including personal
protective equipment like masks,
gowns, gloves and goggles.
The hospital will continue to
screen and mask everyone
who enters the facility and
maintain a zero-visitor protocol
for the foreseeable future
with a few limited exceptions.
LCRH’s environmental services
team is cleaning all high-touch
surfaces every 30 minutes, have
implemented an electrostatic
cleaning system to be used before
a patient arrives and once a patient
leaves a room, and utilizes the same
PPE and safety precautions as the
rest of hospital staff.
Dr. McKinney also encourages
people who have already survived
a cardiovascular event to keep up
their routine care, especially since
they may be considered at higher
risk for COVID-19 complications.
Most physicians are able to consult
with patients over the phone or
through a telehealth virtual visit.
